This feels like a good time for a PSA. People who have nothing to do with one another can share usernames across the internet. That's often accidental and isn't the same as impersonating someone. It's always a good idea to confirm who you're commissioning if their site handle is a combination of words used in multiple languages and the art is in a pop style.
I already got the confirmation that is an impersonator, I’ve been DMing my moot all morning and apparently this person has been trying to impersonate them for 3 years…. It’s scary

I think I read a story about that scammer a while ago.
But in cases where money was transferred the victims have a way to track that person in real life - because at some pint that transaction leads to a bank account. With a name and address. This is also a case for law enforcement.
Now the account doesn't exist anymore here. I am very sorry they had to go through all of this, really :(
I’m just so glad I saw the real artist on Bluesky before the impersonator could respond to my discord messages, I saw so close to being scammed for the first time ever and that’s scary to think about 😭
Don't worry, I reported that account to TomFulp via DMs and he took care of it. Everything is all good.

Holy shit, worst part about this is MULTIPLE of this imposter's stolen art has been frontpaged already and this account has been around for MONTHS, I actually can not believe this.
Yeah and that’s how I found this account but I’m not blaming the admins or front page users for that. They didn’t know.. sadly the real artist is actually pretty small and unknown 😭

I don’t know, people can just be evil sometimes and money is usually the motivation; pretend to be another amazing artist and run with the money pretty much ;;
The scammer already made an account on NG in the past and made another this year (that was deleted too now thankfully).
I think your friend should make an account here on NG too. That way, nobody can take your friend's identity (on NG at least).
I don't know what is your friend opinion on this though.

And yeah, it’ll be best if they did make their own NewGrounds just incase they do this a third time…. Yeah 3 years is insane and terrifying because that could ruin the artists reputation 😭

I actually followed this scammer, well, without knowing it was a scammer. I don't wanna go into details but their behavior was just getting weirder and weirder.

@SouSTAR Ya same, they sent me a friend request and when I declined and messaged em saying I don't really roll that way, they went on about wanting to make friends with people who are smaller artists which in hindsight is hella creepy with them stealing art.

Ever since I had started following them and occasionally commenting on their posts they would IMMEDIATELY send a request not even a few minutes later, I'm not one to really accept out-of-the-blue requests from people I barely knew and interacted with (especially since I'm a minor), but every time I interacted with them in the most insignificant of ways I would get a request immediately sent to me that I would quickly decline, it eventually made me decide to unfollow them completely as the constant requests were making me uncomfortable.

The best thing would be to add the different links to her different social media accounts, like using a Linktree for example, so there's no misunderstanding anymore :)
